Tracked Screening Plants

RGN Trailers for Tracked Processing Equipment
Most tracked crushers and screens transport on removable gooseneck trailers. The machine drives onto the RGN under its own power after folding the feed hopper, lowering or removing the discharge conveyor, and securing all hydraulic cylinders and access platforms. RGN trailers from 55-ton through 150-ton capacity are matched to the specific machine weight. For machines in the 100,000–160,000 lb range, a 4-axle or 5-axle spread RGN configuration is typically needed to distribute weight across enough axles for permit compliance.
Step Deck and Heavy Duty Flatbed for Smaller Equipment
Smaller tracked screens and compact jaw crushers — typically under 60,000 lbs — can transport on a standard 48-foot flatbed or step deck trailer. Step decks provide lower load height that helps keep machines within height limits. Even lighter equipment may still require width permits if hoppers or side frames extend beyond 8.5 feet in transport position.
Discharge Conveyor and Attachment Management
Most tracked crushers and screens include main discharge conveyors, side discharge conveyors, and sometimes magnet separators or overband conveyors mounted on the mainframe. For transport, discharge conveyors fold hydraulically to a near-vertical position, but may still exceed the machine's mainframe height and contribute to the total transport height when loaded on a trailer. Oversize Permit Requirements for Crushers and Screens

- Width: Tracked crushers are typically 10–12 feet wide in transport configuration — above the 8.5-foot legal limit in all states. Width permits are standard. Machines over 12 feet wide require front and/or rear pilot cars in most states; machines over 14 feet wide require both front and rear pilot cars in virtually all states.
- Height: Tracked crushers and screens loaded on RGN trailers typically measure 13.0–15.5 feet total height. Loads above 14 feet require individual permits in most states, with some states setting lower thresholds. Loads above 15.5 feet often require route-specific bridge clearance surveys.
- Weight: Mid-size jaw crushers in the 110,000–130,000 lb operating weight class require overweight permits in all states for a standard 5-axle tractor-trailer. A 4-axle or 5-axle RGN configuration distributes weight to meet per-axle limits but still triggers gross weight permits at these loads. Crushers over 150,000 lbs require detailed axle-by-axle weight calculations and may require superload permits in some states with a 10+ business day advance notice requirement.
